Shivananda Lodge: from word-of-mouth only to 40+ pages built for local, high-intent search.
An independent, family-run hotel in Bankura ran entirely on word-of-mouth, walk-ins and a bare Google Maps listing — no website, every booking negotiated by phone. Here's the static, technically airtight site we built to change that.
Shivananda Lodge is an independent, family-run budget-to-mid-range hotel with 21 rooms across four categories, serving travellers visiting Bankura Sammilani Medical College, exam candidates, business travellers, and tourists headed to Bishnupur, Mukutmanipur and Susunia Hill. Like many small Indian hotels, the business ran entirely on word-of-mouth, walk-ins and a Google Maps listing — with no real website and every booking negotiated by phone.
Before Digitaliate, after Digitaliate
- No real website — a bare Google Maps listing only
- Every booking negotiated over a phone call
- No structured data for rooms, location or FAQs
- No content built for the specific searches locals actually type
- A 40+ page static site with per-room pages and "near X landmark" location pages
- WhatsApp-first booking flow, with Open Graph tags tuned for WhatsApp link previews
- Hotel, LodgingBusiness, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList and per-room Product schema, hand-built
- 8 fully localized Bengali pages with matching structured data and hreflang
- Every fact — rooms, pricing, distances, policy — cross-checked against what the client confirmed
The challenge, the approach and the results
High-intent local searches like "hotel near Bankura bus stand" or "hotel near medical college Bankura" had no page on the site to answer them. With no CMS and no ad budget, the site only wins if the fundamentals — structured data, indexing, page speed, mobile UX — are airtight from day one, not fixed later.
- Intent-driven pages. Per-room detail pages, "near X landmark" location pages, day-trip guides to Bishnupur, Mukutmanipur and Susunia, and traveller-segment pages for exam candidates and business trips.
- Bengali-language SEO. Eight fully localized pages — not machine-translated stubs — with their own typography system, hreflang tagging and matching structured data.
- Hand-built structured data. Hotel, LodgingBusiness, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList and Product schema per room type, plus Open Graph tags tuned for WhatsApp link previews.
- Clean-URL architecture. Enforced server-side via .htaccess, so every URL is short and shareable while the files stay simple to browse and maintain.
- Fact-checked, brand-safe content. Every claim cross-checked against the client; unconfirmed angles flagged rather than guessed, and disambiguating schema added since other unrelated "Shivananda Lodge" businesses exist elsewhere in India.
The site has just been submitted to Google Search Console and is being indexed. As a static, no-CMS build with real structured data and a genuine mobile-first UX, it's positioned to compete on long-tail, high-intent local search terms without paid spend — the next phase is watching indexing, Core Web Vitals and search performance as the data comes in.
See it live
- Per-room & landmark pages — "near X" pages for real local searches
- 8 Bengali-language pages — full localization, not machine translation
- Hotel & room schema — Hotel, LodgingBusiness, Product, FAQPage, Breadcrumb
- Real property photography — no stock imagery anywhere on the site
A static site with no CMS and no ad budget only wins on search if the fundamentals are right from day one — real structured data, honest content, and a mobile UX that actually works, not a template with the city name swapped in. Get that foundation right and a small, independent business can compete on the exact searches its real guests are typing — the same approach behind our Local SEO work.
